Founded in 2015 by architect José María Acevedo, Atelier JMA is an interdisciplinary design studio dedicated to exploring space, material, and context as the foundations of architectural practice.

Bridging research and construction, each project is approached as a dialogue between time, landscape, and the people who inhabit it. The studio seeks to dissolve conventional boundaries in architecture, creating flexible and open spaces that invite new forms of use, encounter, and contemplation.

Based in Mexico, Between The Caribbean city of Tulum, Mexico City and San Luis Potosi,  Atelier JMA grounds its work in the essence of place — the light, climate, and raw materials of the region such as stones, chukum, and woods — reinterpreted through a contemporary language that celebrates material honesty and craftsmanship. Collaboration with local artisans and builders is an integral part of the process, where empirical knowledge meets design precision.

The studio develops projects across Mexico, England, and Nigeria, exploring architecture as a global language enriched by cultural diversity and material context.

In every work, Atelier JMA aims to create architecture with identity, warmth, and permanence — spaces that transcend trends to become living settings for human experience.
